Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schiools (DEIS).
Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools (DEIS), the Action Plan for Educational Inclusion, was launched by the Department of Education and Skills in May 2005. The plan focuses on addressing the educational needs of children and young people from disadvantaged communities, from preschool through second-level education (3 to 18 years). 852 Primary Level and Second Level Schools in Ireland are included in the DEIS initiative.
Under this initiative, We aim to narrow that educational disadvantage by strategically setting goals and targets to improve the DEIS areas of Retention, Literacy, Numeracy, Attendance, Attainment, Progression, Wellbeing, and Partnership.
Foundation of the DEIS Plan for Ringsend College.
The staff and community of Ringsend College believe that a foundational component of a successful education is the positive relationships between staff and students. The DEIS plan and all school policies have been developed with a goal of building a positive community in which students feel supported, recognised and respected. Goals and targets are set with the mindset of helping students achieve their potential and removing barriers that could hinder their education.
